Generic Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs) are perfect for use in establishing the temporary traffic management treatments required for repetitive and routine maintenance tasks. For these activities, development of a site specific TGS for every work activity at every site by a Traffic Management Designer is likely to be overly onerous.
The Generic TGS process and its requirements have now been included in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management and represent an accepted practice by all Australian States and Territories for use.
The concept of processes for the design and application of Generic TGS appears relatively straightforward. However the development of a robust and defensible process is not quite so easy.
This workshop is targeted primarily at those temporary traffic management practitioners who hold the Traffic Management Design qualification. However, project managers in construction and maintenance will also gain a valuable insight into the recommended practices for use of Generic TGS that may be applied at their sites.
The course provides an overview of best practice guidance for the development and use of Generic TGSs, and discusses the processes in the development of a Generic TGS library and the selection process for use on site by a Traffic Management Implementer.
Attendees at this workshop will be able to apply the learnings to develop Generic TGS processes in their organisation.
