Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at dan.sullivan@solutionsintransport.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

At present practices in AGTTM for the grading of gravel roads are described in

  • Part 5 - section 4.5: Continuously Moving Work Area in the traffic lane, and in
  • Part 4 - section 3.18.3: Unsealed roads.

Both of these clauses are written with practices which do not really apply to most grading works involving a convoy of grader, roller(s) and water truck.  They also assume that the grader covers multiple kms as part of a day's works and that the road in front of and behind the grader is trafficable for two-way traffic flow.  In many cases these practices are not suitable.

The alternative compliant practice that has been applied is a static work site with traffic control.  This however can be excessive for many sites with very low traffic volumes and where two-way traffic flow past gravel stockpiles cannot be maintained.

Solutions in Transport has developed and RPEQ approved a range of alternative practices for grading works which can be included within the Generic TGS program as an additional add-on module.  This module requires that Dr Sullivan undertake an assessment of the activity within the subscriber's network to confirm their suitability.  Please contact us for pricing for this RPEQ review and for the add-on module.

A residential street in this program is limited to those roads that meet all of the following parameters

  • Speed limit of 40/50 km/h only
  • Two lane - two way road without a median
  • Generally no centre line
  • No on-road cycle lanes or shoulders

While other roads may also be considered residential the program limits generic diagrams to roads which meet the above
